Size: 11 inches length,  7 inches width, 4 inches height.

Carved with ivy, flora and vines. Diamond border in a classic chip-carving technique.

The shield cartouche is monogrammed EB

Brass knob handle is from a button from a military uniform, it features the Royal coat of Arms, ( Lion and unicorn guarding a shield)

Inside is lined with worn red velvet.

The base shows considerable age and is fixed with tacks.

There is some slight damage and a little warping.

Antique 1920s Ladies Smoking Pipe

Equal rights for women

Fashion in its day the humble smoking pipe for ladies only, in an era where women were struggling to be heard

This beautiful pipe has survived since 1920, a time when women had no voice. The suffragette movement had used its weight to gain equal rights for women to vote.

It wasnt considered lady like to smoke in public.

Ladies smoking pipes appeared on the market, a more dainty, stylish and elegant pipe then the men used, for ladies to smoke at home,  but some pushed back against the system and began smoking in public.

Made from Briar wood, metal studs and orange lucite, to give an amber appearance.
