Chemist ledger 1927/31

A story trapped in time

Not all treasures are made from gold.

We recently uncovered this chemist ledger from 1927/31 . The ledger stands testament to a time gone by.

Stamped Robert E Pearce, Newquay,  Cornwall. It was found buried underneath a pile of dust and brick a brack in a second hand shop.

This historical document provides a glimpse into a world gone by.

Methodically hand written documentation of patients, their ailments and remedies.

A window into the past of how our ancestors lived, their health and common complaints of the day.

The treatment they received. Opiates given out like sweets for anything and everything.

1870 bible published by William MacKenzie

Echoes of bygone days

We uncovered this bible in Bristol.

Published in 1870 by William MacKenzie Interpreted by Rev.  John Brown.

The cover has seen better days, but the pages are perfectly readable. Although they have some foxing which is understandable for a book that is 156 years old.

John Browns apparatus of cross referencing , marginal notes,  introductions and summarise were designed to make this bible accessible to untaught readers.
